Worth having handy before you dial: the road you front on, roughly how wide the entrance is, what the existing pipe is made of if there is one, and what the ditch does in a hard rain. Tell us whether water has ever run across the driveway. That one answer moves the pipe size more than anything else you can tell us. None of it is required.

Hours: Monday through Saturday, 7am to 6pm. Closed Sunday.

Season: We measure, size, and permit twelve months a year and dig when the ground and the ditch allow it. Frozen ground stops trenching and stops compaction. Winter is measuring and paperwork season, and the reward is that the machine arrives the week the frost leaves. Spring is when pipes fail, and the calendar fills from the first thaw onward.

Service area: Fort Wayne and Allen County, plus Whitley and DeKalb counties, including New Haven, Huntertown, Leo-Cedarville, Grabill, Woodburn, Monroeville, Hoagland, and Churubusco.

Two things we will raise on the first call. Work in the road right-of-way needs a permit from whoever maintains that road, and we find out which office that is before we quote your entrance. Second, some ditches along county roads here are legal drains under the County Surveyor and some are not, so we check the county's drain map. Where a ditch is a legal drain, an extra approval applies on top of the highway permit.
